See your doctor if you’re experiencing problems with urination.

If you frequently have an overwhelming need to urinate immediately, or find yourself leaking urine during the day, your doctor will likely prescribe Myrbetriq.

Tell the doctor if you have existing medical conditions.

Some conditions react negatively with Myrbetriq. These conditions include severe kidney disease and severe liver disease, as well as problems resulting in urinary blockage. Also tell your doctor if you have severe uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure).

Inform the doctor if your symptoms haven’t improved within 8 weeks.

Myrbetriq is not fast-acting

Take Myrbetriq by mouth once daily.

In most cases, Myrbetriq should be taken only 1 time each day. The most common dose is 25 mg. However, if this proves ineffective, your doctor may increase your dosage to 50 mg.

Swallow the Myrbetriq pill with water.

Use plenty of water to swallow the pill. Before swallowing the pill, do not break or crush the pill in your mouth. The pill should be swallowed whole.

Limit your intake of alcohol, coffee, and tea while taking Myrbetriq.

These liquids will all increase the amount that you urinate and may worsen your symptoms.

Monitor your blood pressure while taking Myrbetriq.

The drug can raise your blood pressure or exacerbate already high blood pressure. Your doctor will probably want to periodically monitor your blood pressure while you’re taking Myrbetriq.

Take an antibiotic to stop urinary tract infections.

The drug can cause urinary tract infections (UTIs), which are typically accompanied by pain while urinating. Ask your doctor about taking an antibiotic medication to clear up the infection. There is also limited evidence that drinking 1 or 2 glasses of cranberry juice a day may help clear up UTIs.

Hydrate and rest if you experience cold-like symptoms.

As a common side effect, Myrbetriq may cause cold-like symptoms, including a stuffy or runny nose, scratchy throat, headache, and a dry mouth. It can also cause nausea or dizziness.

Get immediate medical attention if you experience severe side effects.

If you start to experience a rapid and irregular heartbeat, break out in hives or rash, have trouble breathing and notice that your face is swelling, or experience
